Try, Try Again
'Tis a lesson you should heed, Try, try again;
If at first you don't succeed, Try, try again;
Then your courage should reappear,
For if you will persevere,
You will conquer, never fear;
Try, try again.

This article was written by George Rutherford, assistant trainer at SECT CrossFit. SECT CrossFit is located in Baltic, Conneticut.
I remember it with incredible clarity. The moment I decided that I was going to start living a healthy and fit lifestyle. I was sitting with some friends of mine and we were watching footage from a film project of ours. In one scene I saw myself, without a shirt, running. I couldn't believe what I saw. It was embarrassing how out of shape I looked. It's easy to lie to yourself in the mirror when you can suck in the gut or flex the pecs a little. This was brutal truth. I was out of shape....

CrossFit San Angelo will be hosting a free group workout on Saturday April 19, 2008 at 9am beneath the Chadbourne Street Bridge downtown by the Concho River. The workout will cover the basics of CrossFit and allow you to see if it is right for you. Please feel free to bring a friend, the session will last approximately one hour. Please reserve your spot by e-mail or through the comments link.
If it is raining we will postpone. There is a good parking lot between Chadbourne and S. Oakes on Neff's Way. All you need to bring is your bottle of water, running shoes, and smile.
Please contact me with any questions you may have. I look forward to seeing you there.
If you find this place your in the right spot :)
I shot an arrow into the air, It fell to the earth, I know not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight could not follow it in its flight.
I breathed a song into the air, It fell to the earth, I knew not where;
For who has sight so keen and strong, That it can follow the flight of song?
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
I am proud to announce that CrossFit San Angelo is now listed on the Trigger Point Therapy provider network. You can see the listing here under TPT providers.
TP Therapy is the premier way to aid your body in it's recovery from intense workouts like the ones we do at CrossFit San Angelo. The TP tools are superior to anything on the market and do not injure the soft tissue like other items such as baseballs and dowels.
By following the U6 protocol you can safely and effectively add an element to your training that will benefit you far beyond training alone. I promise Trigger Point will add to your quality of life.
I found Trigger Point after suffering from severe low back pain for months. After trying chiropractors and massage therapist with no improvement, I happened onto the Trigger Point tools. I was desperate and was willing to try anything to get my freedom of movement back.
After a few weeks of following the procol I was amazed at how my low back pain seemed to go away. I am back to full capacity and now maintain my muscle elasticity with a few minutes dedicated to the protocol through the week.
I knew that this was a system I want the people I train and teach to know about, understand, and use.
Try it for yourself, you will see what I mean.
Can't is the worst word that's written or spoken; Doing more harm here than slander and lies;
On it is many a strong spirit broken, And with it many a good purpose dies.
It springs from the lips of the thoughtless each morning and robs us of courage we need through the day:
It rings in our ears like a timely sent warning and laughs when we falter and fall by the way.
Can't is the father of feeble endeavor, The parent of terror and halfhearted work;
It weakens the efforts of artisians clever, And makes of the toiler an indolent shirk.
It poisons the soul of the man with a vision, It stifles in infancy many a plan;
It greets honest toiling with open derison and mocks at the hopes and the dreams of a man.
Can't is a word none should speak without blushing; To utter it should be a symbol of shame;
Ambition and courage it daily is crushing; It blights a man's purpose and shortens his aim.
Despise it with all of your hatred of error; Refuse it the lodgement it seeks in your brain;
Arm against it as a creature of terror, And all that you dream of you someday shall gain.
Can't is the word that is foe to ambition, An enemy ambushed to shatter your will;
Its prey is forever the man with a mission and bows but to courage and patience and skill.
Hate it, with hatred that's deep and undying, For once it is welcomed 'twill break any man;
Whatever the goal you are seeking, Keep trying and answer this demon by saying: "I can."
Edgar Guest
Once upon a time, there were two tribes: the No Quit Tribe and the Poor Me Tribe. One grabbed life by the shoulders (or even lower) and surged forward, ever forward, no matter the consequences, whether physical or mental: these were the people of the No Quit Tribe. The other tribe – the Poor Me Tribe -- looked at life from an opposite viewpoint: shying away from pain, shunning physical challenges, seeking only to engage in non-threatening activities, with a constant massage of the ego because it made them feel good. They avoided pain at all cost. If things did not work out the way they wanted, they blamed someone else, because their egos could not handle failure. Fortunately, most of them were eaten by wild animals.
